The Department of Information and Communication Engineering has extensive experimental facilities including the IT System Laboratory, which has state-of-the-art information and communication equipment; the Embedded System Development and Training Center, which involves collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Intelligent Systems; and the IT Media Laboratory, which conducts experiments and research of graphic, image and audio information.
Introduced here are some representative facilities and equipment of the Department of Information and Communication Engineering.
IT System Laboratory
The IT System Laboratory is a place to learn and verify, on a practical and effective basis, network technologies that form the basis for IT systems.
The IT System Laboratory is equipped with a wide range of experimental systems including fiber-optic systems, which support the current Internet technologies, and network security systems, on which great importance has been placed recently.
The Laboratory's state-of-the-art communication and measurement equipment, being used at the front line of information and communications, and a practical curriculum of experiments allow the students to gain the knowledge and technical skills that are of immediate use in modern IT technology.

IT Media Laboratory
Various information including text, sound and images is used in our information society, and the pursuit of advanced processing of such data is an important issue.
The IT Media Laboratory is a facility for conducting experiments and research on graphic, image and sound information. It has a 120-inch stereoscopic screen system, three-dimensional scanner, force-sense feedback system, satellite image analyzer, voiceprinter and other equipment. It conducts practical experiments and research such as NOAA satellite image analysis, computer graphics representation and speech analysis.

Optical Signal Processing Laboratory

Therefore the experimental study of wavelength conversion, optical switches and high speed light waveform control technology is promoted towards the development of new optical signal processing technology.
Anechoic Chamber

Also it is important that the electric wave does not intrude indoors from an outdoor source.
An "Anechoic Chamber" is a laboratory contained within a room shielded by metal, which is completely earthed and has a special material applied to its inner surfaces in order to absorb electric waves.
Soundproof Room

The Soundproof Room is an acoustic experiment room having its walls and ceiling lined with acoustic absorbent so that noiseless sound can be recorded within it.
Sound data indispensable for phonetics is being collected in the distinctive anechoic environment.
